Tooth Whitening

If you’re looking for a way to improve the appearance of your teeth that’s effective and affordable, then tooth whitening treatments can work wonders. Whitening your teeth by just a few shades – ideally so that they match the whites of your eyes – can give your appearance a fantastic boost and downplay flaws. People associate white teeth with good health and self-care, which is important when you want to make a great first impression. In fact, more of us notice a person’s smile and teeth first than any other feature!

  • Rejuvenate your smile with whiter teeth
  • In-surgery & home whitening systems available
  • An effective & affordable smile makeover treatment
  • Great teeth whitening offers available on ‘Ta Dazzle’ Tuesdays

Tooth whitening can downplay any flaws on your teeth by getting rid of or minimising discolouration and helping to create the illusion that your teeth are straighter because there are fewer shadows. Many people opt to have their teeth whitened for their wedding day or another special event where they’re likely to be captured on camera. Tooth whitening isn’t just for special occasions though – it’s a great way to makeover your smile at any time.

FAQs

  • What tooth whitening systems are used at Spring Grove Clinic?

Here at Spring Grove Clinic, you have a choice of Zoom! LED in-surgery tooth whitening at the practice and/or home tooth whitening.

  • What is Zoom! LED tooth whitening and how does it work?

With Zoom! LED tooth whitening, we apply a special hydrogen-peroxide-based whitening gel to your teeth and shine a bleaching LED light on your teeth to activate a catalyst within the whitener to increase how well it works. The LED light also lets us see that the whitening gel is covering your teeth evenly for better results.

We’ll leave the gel on for 15 minutes initially. During a single treatment, you will be given three to four 15-minute applications of the whitening gel and LED light.

After your treatment, we’ll give you a post-treatment desensitiser to apply and some at-home whitening trays to use to continue to boost your results.

  • How does at-home tooth whitening work?

With at-home tooth whitening, we’ll send you home with a series of custom-made whitening trays that look a lot like clear aligners. You will fill these trays with whitening gel from a small bottle or syringe. The trays then fit over your teeth. We’ll advise you on how many hours you need to wear the trays each day or whether they can be worn overnight.

  • Which is best – at-home or in-surgery tooth whitening?

The answer to this question depends on the results you’re trying to achieve and the time frame in which you’re trying to achieve them. Having an in-surgery tooth whitening treatment is a great way to jump start your journey to whiter teeth and take a bit of a shortcut. The home tooth whitening after the in-surgery procedure helps to consolidate the results and make them last for as long as possible.

At-home tooth whitening can happen without the in-surgery procedure but may take longer for you to see comparable results.

The best thing is to come in and have a consultation, so we can make recommendations specific to your case, the level of discolouration you have, your schedule, budget, number of crowns and fillings you have, and more.

  • How long will my treatment take?

The length of your treatment will depend on various factors, such as how discoloured your teeth are, the shade we’re trying to achieve, and the method(s) of tooth whitening used. Before you begin your treatment, we should be able to give you a better idea of timescales based on your unique case.

An in-surgery tooth whitening appointment typically takes 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Will tooth whitening make my teeth sensitive?

Sensitivity is one of the most common side effects of tooth whitening treatments, which is why it’s so important to use professional tooth whitening products under the guidance of an experienced tooth whitening dentist.

After in-surgery whitening with Zoom!, we will give you a special desensitising paste to apply at home. We may also advise you to use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth in the days and weeks before your treatment, and can help you manage any sensitivity afterwards. If you already have sensitive teeth, it’s important to discuss this with your dentist during your first consultation about tooth whitening.

  • How much does tooth whitening cost?

Zoom! LED treatment currently costs £675.00 but is available at half price (£337.50) if bought on ‘Ta Dazzle’ Tuesdays. The same goes for home whitening kits, which are £375 but half price (£187.50) on Tuesdays.
